“As a graduate student of the director's
department, I especially admire French director Jean Luc Godard and the
long-shot theory of the European film aesthetics. The ‘mise-en-scene’ of the
new wave movies has always been my pursuit. I have also planned to study in
France. I have heard of Clermont International Short Film Festival a long time
ago. I feel so honoured to get the support from Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of
the Hong Kong government and have such a great opportunity to attend the
festival with NAE team. I feel that my dream has come true.

The artwork that I brought to France aims to
share the memory of Hong Kong. Hong Kong is a fast-growing metropolitan. I wish
to use my camera to capture memories of Hong Kong cityscape before the
construction of the underground and to share this unique Hong Kong culture with
the international audience. The NAE market screening provides an opportunity to
communicate with the audience. Their applause is the biggest recognition for
us. After the screening, there were Q&A session and the cocktail party. To
my surprise, the international audience didn’t leave early, they even stayed
almost an hour to interact with us. I found it deeply moving.

I really enjoyed the ambience of the
Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. In France, watching short
films has formed a culture. One of the most impressive screening took place in
a university. The screening hall was quite large, there were many audience, at
all ages. The motivation of the overseas audience watching the short films is
quite pure and devoted. I sincerely hope that one day I can share my artwork
with more movie lovers in such a large screening venue.

Thanks to the NAE invitation, I was able to
see superb high quality international short films in just a few days. This trip
also inspired me to continue to create, I will devote my whole life to pursue
the path of film-making.”
